Gavin Durham is a Philadelphia-based oboist and woodwind/brass teacher. He is a part of Temple University’s Music Education Class of 2027, and a member of the National Association for Music Educators.
As a performing oboist, Gavin Durham has played in venues such as the Kimmel Center and the Lincoln Center. He can be found regularly performing with the Temple University Symphony Orchestra and the Temple University Wind Symphony. He has also been a part of the Temple University Diamond Marching Band and can be found playing in various community ensembles throughout Philadelphia.
Gavin attended high school in Wilmington, Delaware and was drum major of the Alexis I. DuPont High School Marching band, where he fell in love with music education. He also spent his high school years with the Delaware Youth Symphony Orchestra, Philadelphia Young Artist’s Orchestra, Newark Community Band, and the Brandwine Pops Orchestra. In addition to a love for classical and wind band music, Gavin began playing guitar and bass as a teenager and has a love for classic rock, pop, and punk.
Gavin believes in the capacity for music education to empower students of all ages and abilities. He grew up in a musically-rich environment and believes that everyone should have to opportunity to surround themselves with music. Gavin Durham is excited to offer lessons on flute, oboe/english horn, clarinet, saxophone, trumpet, trombone, french horn, baritone, tuba, guitar, and electric bass.
